On February 25, 2010, Jailer David Osborne opened his doors to 52 Daviess County High School Criminology students from Pam Cook’s class for one of her bi-annual tours. Jailer Osborne accompanied the vivacious students through much of the jail’s corridors including detoxification and isolation cells. The tour consisted of an illustration of the entire inmate process beginning at intake and ending at the assigned housing area. Major Bill Billings conducted a mock taser demonstration and gave an informative lecture on all the tools and weapons available, while identifying the items used regularly, and the items used strictly for worst-case scenarios. The students were thrilled to have a current inmate come and tell his story, and the loss of personal freedom he now has to endure due to his behavioral choices. To close the tour, Jailer David Osborne did a Q & A session with the students. The criminology students were energetic to ask, and Jailer Osborne was pleased to answer the many remarkable questions.
